Why Compassion? Spirit West Coast ministers around the world

Since the very first Spirit West Coast in 1997, the Festival has been a ministry partner with the Christian child development organization, Compassion International. Compassion ministers to children in Third World countries by providing food, clothing, education and Christian ministry on a child-by-child basis.

Each year at Spirit West Coast, attendees are asked to sponsor a child, which directly connects the sponsor with a little boy or girl in a poor country of the world. The small monthly support ($32) literally changes the life of a little boy or girl physically, and by exposing them to the Gospel their young lives are changed spiritually.

Many artists who have previously appeared or are scheduled to appear at SWC -- Audio Adrenaline, Michael W. Smith, Kutless, Bebo Norman, Rebecca St. James and others -- not only sponsor children themselves, but encourage others to do so. Since 1997 Spirit West Coast attendees have sponsored over 7,000 children around the world.
